I had the amazing privilege to tour the new Golden 1 Center last Sunday along with some of Sacramento’s finest Instagrammers and photographers.
It’s always a good time to see my pals but it was even more special when you can share this once-in-a-lifetime experience together. It truly is once-in-a-lifetime because this arena — which will hold 17,500 guests! — will soon be open and no one else will have a view quite like what we had.
We first met up in the Sacramento Kings Experience Center where we were given special hard-hats, safety vests & goggles and were then ushered over to the arena.
With fevered anticipation, we crept through the construction zone and entered the arena by way of the massive ground-level garage – where Kings players will drive in with their fancy cars! – and walked up stairs to the enormous players’ training court. The floor area is two NBA regulation-sized basketball courts and we got to see the hardwood flooring that will be going down this week. So cool!
We then walked along the different concourses, going up & down stairs, seeing concession stands near completion and experiencing the arena in 360ª. This arena is one of the first of its kind to allow for literally 360º views of the entertainment area; not only basketball games either, but concerts and other live events! With a massive 84 x 35 foot screen in the middle of the arena – that’s also 4K and a first for the NBA – you’ll never miss a moment! There’s also a “grand entrance” that has enormous bi-fold windows… during the warm summer months that cool delta breeze will be able to flow in & help cool down the arena. I think those windows are my favorite part of the arena so far.
Here are some photos! I hope you like them… and Go Kings! 🏀
