Throwback Thursday: Japan

In honor of Throwback Thursday, we’re obsessing over our upcoming Japan trip by reminiscing on our previous trip!

We went to Japan as part of our Round the World Honeymoon in 2014. That trip was such an adventure! We even called it Eddie & Christine’s Excellent Adventure. I can’t believe that was 2 years ago.

We flew into Japan… on Singapore Airlines’ Business Class!… spent 8 days in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka; then flew on to the next location on our trip – travelling westbound – spending 2 to 3 nights in each location. All that travel, and with only carry-on bags! Since I’ve travelled so much over the years, I like to think I’ve mastered the art of packing ? and if we were on the Amazing Race (something we’ve joked around with), we would totally win.

What a whirlwind that trip was… but since then, we’ve had an aching to go back to Japan. We just love the people, culture, food and country as a whole so much. And I’m so excited to say that we are going again! Not only am I going to get even better photos this time around since I have a full-frame camera but we will get to spend 14 days there this time around!

Things on the list this time around

+ Studio Ghibli museum

+ Omakase at Uncle Tony’s friend’s place

+ Omakase at Sushi Ya

+ Exploring Golden Gai, Memory Lane and Piss Alley in Shinjuku

+ Spa time at Andaz Tokyo and Park Hyatt Tokyo (aka the hotel from Lost in Translation and quite possibly my most favorite hotel in the world… well, let’s see after we stay at Andaz!)

+ Playing dress-up as a Maiko in Kyoto

But mostly we’re just looking forward to being in the city: getting lost in a few neighborhoods, exploring gardens and taking photos of the plum & cherry blossom trees. Especially the blossoms ?

After we booked flights & hotels, I visited my site and realized I never actually did a Japan post to commemorate our marriage, honeymoon and experience in Japan. I looked back on Facebook and found my photos from my iPhone but none from my Nikon. So without further ado, here are some of my favorite photos!

Hope you enjoyed the photos! Stay tuned for more from 日本
